Hybrid Networks to Exceed Fourth Quarter Revenue Guidance; Continued Improvements in Financial Performance Bring Company Closer to Profitability

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hybrid Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: HYBR), the worldwide leader in high-capacity MMDS fixed broadband wireless Internet access systems, today announced that it expects to report revenues in excess of $7 million for its fourth quarter ending December 31, 2001, exceeding its previously announced guidance of $5 million. The Company also expects to meet its gross margin targets for the fourth quarter, which were to achieve gross margins comparable to those reported in the Company's third quarter ending September 30, 2001.
In addition, Hybrid's recent staff reduction and ongoing cost-containment efforts will decrease operating expenses for both the fourth quarter and the foreseeable future. Hybrid noted that the improvements in its financial performance for all four quarters of 2001, highlighted by strong revenues and tightened expense controls, has brought the Company closer to achieving profitability in the fourth quarter.

CAMPBELL, Calif. (Dow Jones)PCom Inc. (PCOM) announced a restructuring plan "to return the company to cashflow positive by the fourth quarter 2002, strengthen the management team, and introduce a new product line with enhanced features."
In a press release Thursday, the company said it named George Roberts interim chief executive,replacing Jim Sobczak. Roberts is the company's founder and chairman. Sobczak had replaced Roberts as chief executive in May.
PCom also named Randy Carl senior vice president, sales, and appointed John Wood to the newly created position of chief technical officer.
The company said its plan "calls for achieving positive cashflow by the fourth quarter of 2002."
PCom plans to consolidate its research and developement and manufacturing operations, and close four facilities in the U.S. and U.K.
The company expects to cut about 42 jobs by the end of the first quarter as a result of the consolidation and closings. Over the past four quarters, the company said it reduced its work force by 41%, to 363 employees from 612.
PCom expects its restructuring to reduce expenses by about $3.3 million, or 31%, in the first quarter from the fourth quarter, and cut quarterly operating expenses by $8.1 million, or 53%, from the yearago first quarter.
The company hired CaganMcAfee Capital Partners, Cupertino, Calif., as a strategic adviser for the restructuring.
PCom makes PointtoMultipoint, PointtoPoint, and Spread Spectrum wireless access systems.
