TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Japanese stocks fell Monday morning session under pressure from high technology shares.
Analysts said that corporations are likely to continue selling equity shareholdings to shore up their books ahead of the interim accounting period at the end of September. But bargain-hunters are likely to keep the Nikkei from falling excessively.
Declining issues included automakers Toyota and Honda, and high technology issues including Sony and Fujitsu.
In the currency market, the dollar and uro gained slightly against the yen.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year government bond was 1.1700% down from Friday's close of 1.1750%. Its price rose 0.05 to 101.16.
