TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Asian share prices rallied from the open Thursday, lifted by the hefty gains on Wall Street. However, the dollar failed to benefit and slipped against both the yen and euro.
On the stock market, the Nikkei moved above 10,000 points shortly after trading began, bouncing from a sharp downturn the day before when shares took a beating because of U.S. stock market declines.
Battered exporter stocks gained sharply, led by the likes of Sony and Honda Motor, while interest was reignited in telecommunication and technology shares.
Stock markets across Asia felt the benefits.
In currency dealings, the dollar dipped against the yen, despite the strength of U.S. equities. Concern over U.S. exports was cited by some as a reason for the weakness in the greenback.
