Nama and Jana also succeeded to reach an out-of-court settlement regarding the contractual dispute with Ciba/Vantico. Jana has received around 13 Million USD from Ciba/Vantico for the breaches of the agreementsThe board of directors of NAMA has recommended on increase in the capital of Nama by SR. 250 million to SR. 500 million, by approving additional shares to meet the current expansions and evaluation of new projects.

The Financial statement for the first quarter of 2004 of Nama shows a positive results comparing with same period last year.
Sales increases 13% and cost of sales decreased, which results in reduction of the losses 18%. On the other hand, the production of JANA company increased 50% and Soda company production increased by 13.7% with an obvious decrease in the operating cost.
Nama has recently announced that one of its affiliates, The Arabian Alkali Company (Soda), had completed the tasks of increasing the plant's production capacity to 60,000 tons. It had also completed the building of a drum manufacturing plant. These drums will be used for packaging and shipping its own products to meet the increasing national and international demands of caustic soda prills. Soda Company has sold its products to 51 countries to-date over the world.
A Business Development Manager has recently joined the organization. His main task is (1) to review, evaluate all business operation systems, (2) coordinate with internal and external sources toward the improvement of the company business, (3) develop and implement short range and long range business strategies that would have a potential future success, especially in the overseas challenging markets.
Nama announces that one of its affiliates "Al-Jubail Chemical Industries Company (Jana) has signed a letter of Intent with both Tamilnado petroproduct and Srits companies to review a detailed feasibility study to produce Epechlorohydren and Chlor/Caustic Soda with an expected production capacity of 30,000 ton at its premises in Jubail Industrial city.
This project will boost the company's position and enable it to meet the ever increasing demand for epoxy. It will also give potential future expansions with the possibility of exporting excess products.
The Arabian Industrial Development Company (Nama) has recently announced that Al-Jubail Chemical Industries Company (Jana), one of its affiliates, has completed the first phase of increasing its production capacity of Epoxy by 25%, thus reaching 25 MT/Y of production capacity. This increase in the capacity will enable Jana to meet local and international demand on Epoxy.
Nama has also released the news about its affiliate Jana who was able to introduce its epoxy products under a new brand name "RAZEEN".[/ALIGN

National Chemical Industries Corporation BSC (NACIC) was established in 1993 with a paid up capital of 9.5 Million USD to implement Sulphur derivatives project for the production of Sodium Sulfite and Sodium Metabisulphite at a total annual capacity of 18,00 MT.

Nama has invested in this project a total amount of 1.7 Million USD (6.375 Million SR) equivalent to 9.11% of the present equity of NACIC.
The total LSTK contract price for the project was USD 13.6 Million. Total capitalized project cost is 21.94 Million USD (excluding working capital), which is around 23% higher than initial estimate.
Arabian Industrial Fibers Company (Ibn Rushd)
Arabian Industrial Fibers Company (Ibn Rushd) is a joint stock company located in Yanbu Industrial City. Ibn Rushd was established to produce Polyester in March 15, 1993. The polyester plant was constructed at the end of 1996, and the commercial production started in January 1997.
Also to support the Polyester plant, Ibn Rushd decided during 1st construction stage to increase the product capacity by adding the following plants:
1) Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant
2) Aromatics plant
In addition to the general facilities.
The paid up captial of Ibn Rushd is 3,550 Million SR. The company had also considered additional shares to cover the cost of the subject expansion. Nama had participated with 66 Million SR, representing 1.87% of the paid capital.
