American Fire Retardant Corp. Unveils Online Sales Plan

October 21, 2003 09:15:00 (ET)

SAN DIEGO, Oct 21, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- American Fire Retardant Corp. (AFRR, Trade), (www.americanfireretardant.com) today unveiled its online sales strategy in advance of the rapidly approaching holiday season. With Halloween just a few days away, consumers will be quickly making the transition to singing snowmen, jingle bells, storybooks, holiday shopping, and before you know it, the acquisition of a Christmas tree. Industry experts, predict that over 33 million Christmas trees will be sold in North America this year, yet one short circuit in a string of lights, or a spark from the fireplace, and .....!!!

Unfortunately, it is a fact that thousands of Christmas tree related fires and injuries will occur during the upcoming holiday season. "Sadly, all the tragedy and destruction could have been prevented if everyone applied TreeSafe to their Christmas trees," said Stephen F. Owens, President of American Fire Retardant Corp. TreeSafe is the company's new easy-to-use spray-on fire retardant for real Christmas trees and wreaths that actually prevents trees from igniting.

The upcoming holiday season is underscored by the ever expanding Internet shopping revenue forecasts. According to New York-based eMarketer Inc., it predicts that the 4th Quarter of 2003 online holiday consumer retail spending will reach $17.77 billion, or 29.1% higher than the 4th Quarter of 2002's $13.77 billion. "Consumers remain cautious, but they're moving more of their spending online," says eMarketer.

Owens explained, "While we are committed to the traditional off-line retail channel as a means of marketing TreeSafe, the Internet is becoming an ever popular sales venue for reaching consumers in their own living room."

According to Ed Grysiewicz, Managing Director of Delta Ventures and head of TreeSafe sales, "Our Internet sales plan for 2003 will aggressively focus on getting TreeSafe into all of the major online shopping portals like, eBay, Amazon, MSN, Yahoo, and AOL.com." Grysiewicz explained, "Millions of people will shop online this holiday season and we want to tap into that huge potential market. For example, today you can already find TreeSafe as a featured product on Google, the #1 search engine on the Internet. Simply enter terms like, "fire retardant," "safe Christmas," "safe Christmas tree," and TreeSafe gets top billing."

"To augment the online shopping venue," Grysiewicz explained, "we will soon be emailing thousands of `Public Service Messages' to schools, churches, fire departments, and organizations, alerting them to the dangers of Christmas tree fires and prevention of those fires through the use of TreeSafe."

In other related news, Owens announced that, "We will be adding 3in1hero as a product to our shopping catalog on www.treesafe.com." Like TreeSafe, 3in1hero is an effective spray-on fire retardant but used for drapes, carpets, and furniture. "We will be alerting the consumer to the fact that Christmas fire prevention also extends to the carpeting surrounding the tree and the tree-skirt itself," Owens said.

merican Fire Retardant Corp. Announces Nationwide Holiday Safety Initiative

Business Editors

AN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2003--Spurred by the raging Southern California brush fires and with the holidays just around the corner, American Fire Retardant Corp., Santee, Calif. (OTCBB:AFRR) announced today that it was establishing a Nationwide Holiday Safety Initiative. The initiative will focus on working with organizations to raise public awareness about Christmas tree fire prevention and the need for emergency preparedness.
"Beginning Nov. 3, 2003, participants in the company's Affiliate
Marketing Program will be given the opportunity to designate a portion
of their TreeSafe commissions towards a special trust fund that will
be established for victims of Christmas tree fires this holiday
season. In addition, we will match those designated funds
(commissions) on a 100% basis," said Stephen F. Owens, president of
American Fire Retardant Corp.
TreeSafe is the company's new easy-to-use spray-on fire retardant
for real Christmas trees -- when used as directed, they will simply
not ignite.
Owens explained, "All the tragedy and destruction directly
attributed to Christmas tree fires could be prevented if everyone
applied TreeSafe before decorating."
In making the announcement, the company is encouraging all current
and future affiliates to join with them in making the initiative a
success. Detailed instructions for affiliates will be posted on the
treesafe.com Web site shortly.
In other news, the company reported that it is very encouraged by
the reaction it is getting from it's advertising campaign in Christmas
Tree magazine.
According to Publisher Chuck Wright, "Christmas Tree magazine is
the largest publication of its kind in the industry with subscriber
base of over 3,200 Christmas tree farms, major suppliers,
distributors, and 35 State associations."
"Building long-term brand identity and getting a new product to
market requires that we use every available sales venue," Owens
commented.
According to Ed Grysiewicz, managing director of Delta Ventures
and head of TreeSafe sales, "Traffic to the treesafe.com Web site has
continued to climb steadily despite the fact that most consumer minds
are still on Halloween. We believe that we are seeing a substantial
increase directly attributable to various online initiatives, and a
pent-up interest for the solution to Christmas tree fires."
