U.S.-listed shares of overseas companies ticked higher on Thursday, drawing strength from China's Shanda Interactive Entertainment as its shares extended a winning streak as well as from oil stocks as crude futures reached their highest level in a week.
But gains by ADRs were capped by Wall Street's struggle to follow through on Wednesday's rally after the central bank dropped a phrase from previous statements about the possibility of additional firming of its monetary policy. See The Fed column.
The Bank of New York Composite ADR Index was up 0.03% at 170.86.
