Sterling fell against the broadly stronger euro and trimmed early losses versus the dollar Dealer said that Sterling is still well within the recent range, and the range has been relatively small.
By close sterling had lost half a percent against the euro to 68.76 pencefrom 68.42 in late New York on Monday.
Against the dollar it stood at $1.5700 compared with $1.5738, within a recent range.
Retail prices excluding the cost of home loans rose 0.4 percent on the month in March, keeping the annual rate of RPIX inflation at three percent and exceeding its 2.5 percent target for the fifth month in a row. British employment data are due on today at 0830 GMT.
