FOREX: The euro is finally making its move higher but has to clear $0.9850 to gain more momentum.
The dollar stumbled in a wave of selling Monday, with some talk that a major hedge fund and other investors were offloading the currency, initially against the yen, and then against a wider array of key rivals
"It looked like there was a mass run for the exits," said Grant Wilson, senior foreign exchange trader with Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh, Penn. "It has been a while since we saw a vicious move like that."
The initial burst of frenetic morning trading amid a flurry of stop-loss orders, sent the euro above $0.9800 for the first time in ten days, with the dollar slipping below the Y124.00 mark against the yen to its weakest point since Oct. 11. A retreat by U.S. stocks further weighed on the dollar.
