BTX Spot benzene prices were once again on the decline, with May deals inching as low as $2.45 per gallon. June and July deals were also sliding below the $2.50 per gallon threshold, while August deals were reported at $2.49 and $2.53 per gallon. Toluene prices held steady in the high $1.80 per gallon range. Mixed xylene deals for both May and June were completed in the low $1.80 range.

Ethylene Spot ethylene prices have dipped to 28c. per pound versus an April contract price of 40c. per pound. Margins on spot ethyleneare now less than 2c. per pound, according to Don Carson, analyst with Merrill Lynch.

Propylene May contracts for chemical- and polymer-grade propylene have settled down 8c. per pound, bringing prices to 33.5c. for chemical-grade and 35c. for polymer-grade propylene.
