SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2002--3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS) today reported financial results for its first quarter of fiscal year 2003 ended August 30, 2002. Revenues for the quarter were $305 million, down 10 percent from the prior fiscal quarter. Gross margins were $145 million, or 48 percent of revenues, up approximately four percentage points sequentially. Operating expenses were $172 million, a decrease of $15 million sequentially. The net loss was $32 million, or $0.09 per share, including restructuring charges of $23 million, or $0.06 cents per share. This compares to a net loss of $19 million, or $0.05 per share, in the previous quarter and a net loss of $223 million, or $0.65 per share, in the first quarter of the prior fiscal year.
